Yes, you read that right – a statue of the legendary AC/DC member Bon Scott in the small town of Kirriemuir in Scotland!

Who is Bon Scott?

Ronald Belford Scott, or “Bon” Scott, was the renowned lead vocalist and lyricist of the hard rock band AC/DC from 1974 to his death in 1980. He had a reputation for being a wildcard, embodying the Rock ‘n’ Roll lifestyle.

A not particularly well known fact about Bon Scott is that before moving to Australia at age 6, he was raised in Kirriemuir! The idea for the statue originally spawned at BonFest, an annual music festival held in honour of the man himself. Mega fans from around the world head to this quaint Scottish town to pay (and play) their respects to their musical hero. As a permanent dedication to both Bon Scott and BonFest, a crowdfunding campaign was organised to fund the construction of this beloved life sized bronze statue. £45,000 was raised, with the statue being created by artist John McKenna. It was unveiled in 2016, and has been a part of Kirriemuir’s landscape ever since. Come and see it for yourself!
