Immerse yourself in the cosmos in one of the finest dark skies sites in Europe at the Kielder Observatory. They run events year-round, including late-night events and events for children. Their main evening events run every night from 8 pm and include a tour of the observatory and a 40-minute talk which varies depending on the night – check out their website to find the right event for you, the theme of the talk is reflected in the event title. If you’re a budding astronomer then this is the perfect activity for your Stack!

Opened in 2008, Kielder Observatory’s heart is in making the wonder of astronomy accessible to everyone. They even run an astronomy school where you can learn from experienced astronomers. With such a unique location and incredible mission, a night at the observatory is something that should be on everyone’s bucket list!

  • Main event ticket prices adult £46, concessions £42 (although some events are cheaper than others)
  • Young explorers tickets £15 for adults and £8 for children (under 16)
  • Late-night events run from 11 pm
