The National Museum of Rural Life is a fantastic museum that incorporates an active working farm, local sculptures and art, and a brilliant museum that explores the histroy of rural living in Scotland. The musuem itself is Scotland’s largest collection of tractors and harvesters in the country and will take you though time in local farming. You can also visit the grand Georgian farmhouse and learn how residents though history have lived. Then if you want a break from the history you can go meet their furry friends on their working farm.
They also encourage you to bring a coat and some proper shoes so you can go walking! They have a willow sculpture trail where you can explore the countryside while finding brilliant sculpture made of willow by a brilliant local artist. And when your finished walking they have a cafe, playground and picnic area where you can enjoy a bite to eat. The musuem is perfect for a family day out with lots to see and do we highly recommend a sunny day at the National Museum of Rural Life!
