Tour the BBC Studios in Newcastle

Going live in 3… 2… 1! Step inside the exciting world of broadcasting with a behind-the-scenes tour of the TV and radio studios at BBC Newcastle! Get a unique insight into how BBC programmes, past and present, are made. Including Byker GroveOur Friends in the NorthGeorge Gently and award-winning children’s drama The Dumping Ground. It’s a working building, so no two tours are the same! Find out some fun facts and quirks about your favourite BBC shows and presenters. Follow your knowledgeable guides for an informative, interesting and award-winning tour.

What should I know about security?

Arrive 15 minutes before your tour starts. Unfortunately, large bags, rucksacks and shopping bags are not allowed inside, so don't bring them with you. Adults must bring a valid photo ID with them. Wear your assigned pass at all times.

Is fancy getting involved? Well, why not have a go at creating a show and broadcasting yourself? Learn the tricks of the trade and explore a whole host of interactive elements in their specially designed studio. Have a go at being a news, radio or weather presenter. This is a unique opportunity, especially for children and who knows, maybe it will inspire a new generation of TV and radio makers!

Tours run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. They run at 10:30 am or 1:30 pm and last approximately an hour and a half. It’s recommended that you book as early in advance as possible; three to four months for large groups or 2 to 4 weeks for small groups.

Children under 16 can go for free if they have a valid Blue Peter badge!
