Add the lagoon to your stack today to begin your Waitaki adventure!

Where can I find the Anderson Lagoon?

From State Highway 1 in Palmerston, turn and carry on down Goodwood Road until you reach Bushy Hill Road. From here turn left and immediately right onto Anderson Road. Park up, hop the stile, and make your way to the lagoon!

When you have arrived, head north along the beach to discover a steel staircase. Please be careful as the coastline is mostly made up of cliff faces and while you may be able to walk along the beach at high tide, make sure to be careful when doing so. The recommended route is to climb up the stairs and follow the high tide route!

Following this route will lead you towards the mouth of the Shag River which sits over the headlands with beautiful coastal views and fresh sea air! Remember to keep an eye out for any sea birds and if you are walking along the beach itself, make sure to look out for seals and sea lions that often visit the area. If you spot a seal or sea lion just keep to yourself at a distance!
