Do you consider yourself a history lover? Or do you just love Vikings and want to learn as much as possible about them? If so, make sure to visit the Viking World in Keflavik! The main attraction at the museum is the World Famous Viking Ship Icelander, which was found almost completely intact at an archaeological find back in 1882. Visitors can learn all about Vikings and their way of life, and how they braved the seas in vessels like this.

Where can I find Viking World in Iceland?

The facility is located in the town of Reykjanes, near Keflavik airport and The Iceland Museum of Rock n Roll.

The facility also includes exhibitions produced by The Smithsonian, titled Vikings: The Northern Saga. Interestingly, this museum explores the role in which Iceland played in the discovery of North America. It also explores the Norse settlements that turned Iceland into what it is today. The building itself is a fantastic example of modern architecture, based right by the famous Flaxaboi Bay in the town of Reykjanes, which can be easily accessed from Reykjavik. So, what are you waiting for? Make the most of your day off, and visit Viking World!

  • Open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm
  • Open Sunday 10 am to 3 pm
