Built high on a clifftop overlooking the Moray Firth, Dunbeath Castle, has one of the most dramatic approaches to any house in Scotland. Dunbeath was first mentioned in historical records as far back as 1428. The castle was a stronghold of the Sinclair family for around 500 years until it was sold in 1945.

Where is Dunbeath Castle?

Dunbeath Castle is just south of Latheronwheel and north of Berriedale Brae. The castle itself is a private property but the gardens are open to the public with the best time to visit between May and October.

The Castle has been much altered since its original fortified tower was built and thanks mainly to its 19th Century alterations by David Bryce it now has a symmetrical face approached down a long straight drive. Two large gardens have been created on either side of this magnificent approach. Visit one of the most iconic attractions in Scotland today at Inveraray Castle You will have the most enjoyable experience viewing beautiful tapestry of both the Scottish and the British history and learn how our past ancestors lived.

Inveraray Castle is based on the shore of Loch Fyne which is Scotland’s longest Loch. The castle itself has been standing since 1400, when you enter you will be amazed by the colours of the hand painted interior design which was influenced by the French Tapestry.
