Through the use of 21st century technology, 3D models, computer generated animations and much more, travel back in time to an era of soldiers, sagas and sieges on the banks of the roaring River Shannon.

What are the opening hours?

You’re in luck! The castle is open ever single day; seven days a week. The opening times are from 10:00 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:00.

Explore the bustling courtyard and try your hand at a series of medieval games from Archery, Noughts and Crosses,Horseshoe Throwing, Medieval Seasaw, Tug O War and more. Climb the ancient towers for dramatic views over Limerick City. In the busy courtyard, you will discover a medieval campaign tent, a blacksmiths forge and scenes from a seventeenth century siege. The sights, scenes and sounds of King John’s Castle and its environs all combine to recreate the atmosphere of the era.
