Where can I find Steampunk HQ?

Steampunk HQ can be found on Itchen Street in the town of Oamaru, across from Oamaru's Victorian Precinct.

What is steampunk you might be wondering? Steampunk is the quirky and exciting genre of science fiction that primarily includes steam-powered technology! The genre is often set in an alternate, fantasy, futuristic version of steam powered devices from 19th century Victorian England. Examples of these machines would include the likes of those found in the writing of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, and in popular television series such as Dr. Who!

Steampunk HQ was originally founded back in 2011 by Don Patterson, Jac Grenfell and Brian de Geest, a group of creative minds that were passionate about Steampunk, and sharing it with the general public. The team at steampunk HQ are constantly working with various talented individuals to collaborate and help out with projects to expand their collection.

Steampunk HQ is an interactive museum, that allows visitors to explore and discover this fun genre. The collections at HQ include an interesting compilation of retro-futuristic sci-fi art, movies, sculptures and music.
