Visit the Clew Bay Heritage Centre

The Clew Bay Heritage Centre traces the history of Westport and the Clew Bay area generally from pre Christian times to the present day. Situated in the scenic Quay district of this heritage town, in County Mayo, the centre also offers a genealogy research service. The Clew Bay Heritage Centre, housed in a 19th century building, contains a nostalgic collection of artefacts, documents and photographs connected with the general Westport area in County Mayo.

The centre also provides a genealogical research facility, complete with an extensive computer database, based on church records, schools registers, rent rolls, cemetery records, census returns, local newspapers and street directories. These records cover the entire Clew Bay area, from Achill Island to Louisburgh. During the summer season, guided walks of the historic planned town of Westport are conducted once a week by a qualified experienced guide. Walks can be arranged at other times, by appointment.
