Visit the real Downton Abbey at Highclere Castle

At Highclere Castle you will be able to learn about the history of the buildings with the help of the knowledgeable guides. You will be able to view the exact location that the film Downtown Abbey was shot and revisit every seen up close as you walk round the castle.

Where can i find Highclere castle?

Visit one of the exquisite Victorian homes designed by Sir Charles Barry and view the beautiful detailed fine furniture. It is known as the real home of ‘Downton Abbey’. Highclere Castle lies to the west of London, not far from the M4 and Newbury.

As you walk you will pass the main hall and library there are around 300 rooms and be amazed by the fine furniture and décor. During your visit you will follow some stairs where you will find the Egyptian Exhibition ad the celebration of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s famous Tomb. If you want some fresh air then head to the Highclere’s gardens and explore the Very original Monks Garden, Rose Arbour and Wildflower Meadow. Highclere Castle, is a stately home owned by the earls of Carnarvon. The castle has more than 200 rooms and stands on a tract of about 1,060 acres (430 hectares). It gained fame as the setting for the television series Downton Abbey (2010–15).
