Royal Yacht in Edinburgh

Edinburgh has no shortage of must-do activities for visitors, from spectacular parks and hikes to museums and galleries, but if you ever wanted to experience the city in the footsteps of royalty, then we have the perfect day-out to add to your stack. Head down to Leith at the northern tip of the city and hop on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, the floating home for the Queen for over 40 years.

What's the best attraction in Edinburgh?

Voted best visitor attraction by VisitScotland and Which? Magazine, the Royal Yacht Britannia is a must-do for any Edinburgh trip.

The Royal Yacht served the Royal Family for decades, travelling millions of miles and hosting royal events – now, it is one of Scotland’s best attractions. Climb on board and take a tour of the Britannia’s five decks: explore the royal apartments and crew’s quarters, then admire the engine room that powered this symbol of the commonwealth, all guided by a free audio handset tour. After that, relax with tea and some delicious cake while enjoying spectacular views at the Royal Tea Room. Don’t forget to take something home to remember your royal trip to the gift shop!

The Royal Yacht is also host to various events throughout the year. Celebrate Christmas like royalty with their special Christmas weekends and see their stunning Christmas decorations, or make a night out with their Burns Supper event that celebrates Scottish food and culture.
