Visit the Ruins of Clonmacnoise in Co Offaly

The site was established as a monastery by St Ciaran, way back in the 6th century, and was an important centre for learning in that era.

The monastery contains ruins of a cathedral, high crosses, nine churches and two unique round towers! There is also a visitor centre located on the site, where visitors can learn all about the people who lived and worshipped there, all down to the food they ate and grew!
