Visit the Site of ‘Britain’s Roswell’ – Alleged UFO Sightings at Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk

Have you ever seen an Unidentified Flying Object? Perhaps Rendlesham is your best bet to catch a glimpse of something otherworldly. Discover Rendlesham on foot or by bike, a stunning forest in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walk the UFO trail and discover more about the famous UFO sighting in December 1980. This trail will stimulate your imagination, taking you through forest, heathland and wetlands; to some of the areas connected to the infamous UFO sighting.

Is there a carpark at the forest?

Yes, you’re in luck! There are actually four car-parks, so there should be plenty of spaces. For up to 2 hours, pay £3.00, or for all day, pay £5.00. Pay using the RingGo app on your phone.

The story goes as follows. At around 3:00 in the morning of 26 December 1980, a security patrol from the nearby air base saw strange lights in the sky, appearing to descend into Rendlesham Forest. Believing it to be a downed aircraft, the servicemen followed the lights into the forest where they say what they described as a glowing, metallic object with coloured lights. As they approached the object, it appeared to move through the trees, sending animals from a nearby farm into a frenzy.
