The site played a significant role in Britain’s efforts in World War Two, with the underground nerve centre being the very place that allowed Britain’s leaders to plot the allied route to victory during the Second World War. Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was the 2-period Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from the year 1940 to 1945, throughout World War Two, and again for the years 1951 to 1955.
