Scenic Views At One Tree Hill in Auckland

Calling all history and geology lovers! Are you looking for a unique day out? One where you can stimulate all of your interests? If so, look no further than the famous One Tree Hill in Auckland! Once an active volcano, ver 28,000 years old! The site is highly important in terms of New Zealand’s culture. Prior to the settlement of Auckland in the 19th century, one tree stood on the site. However, one settler supposedly cut it off, when in need of some firewood!

Where can I find One Tree Hill?

The site is located just outside the city of Auckland, on Campbell Road. Near Cornwall Park and the Royal Oak area of the city. The site can be accessed from the city centre, by taking a train to Greenlane.

Any interference with the site throughout history does not go down well with locals. However, it was the scene of a highly important protest in the 1990s, where Maori protestors used the site to highlight the injustices to their community at that time. So, if you are an avid history lover and wish to stand at one of the most historical sites in New Zealand, make sure to attend One Tree Hill on your next day off!
