The MOTAT experience is a rich learning environment for all ages and tells stories about New Zealand’s involvement in the development of transport, technology and innovation.

Is it suitable for kids?

Kids are well catered for there, with some excellent activities to get the whole family involved, including 'I Spy' treasure hunts, interactive science and technology zone and the Tactile Dome, where your little explorers have to find their way out of a series of dark tunnels, using touch and a great sense of direction!

Explore and discover the achievements that have helped shape New Zealand, from the 1800s to today. MOTAT has an extensive collection of items and possess very rare treasures which are of national significance to the people of New Zealand. MOTAT is split across two sites, so when you’ve exhausted the MOTAT 1 site, hop on one of the vintage trams over to MOTAT 2 at Meola Road near Auckland Zoo, and admire the multi-million dollar, award-winning Aviation Display Hall.
