What is the nicest house in Ireland?

Ireland is scattered with fantastic examples of Victorian and Georgian Mansions, some of which have been restored to immaculate levels. One of the finest examples of these is Emo Court House in Co Laois.

The house was commissioned and built by the Earls of Portarlington, and designed by world-renowned architect, James Gandon. The house has had many notable residents throughout the years, including the likes of former president Mary Robinson, author Benedict Kiely, and Photographer Father Frank Browne. Although, its most important resident was Major Cholmeley Dering Cholmeley-Harrison, who restored the house from dereliction to its former glory in the 1950s. So, History lovers!
