If so, make sure to visit the fantastic Stradbally Woodland Railway on your next day off! This is a 1km long railway which aims to celebrate Ireland’s history with the railways and steam trains. It is located inside Stadbally hall and has access to the public, a few times a year.
Where can I see heritage railway lines in Ireland?
Built in the 1950s by some local railway enthusiasts, this railway gives us an insight into what would have been an important feature of rural Irish life throughout the years. In the years following its inception, Born Na Mona had gifted the Railway some of its gear to keep those volunteers’ dreams alive.
