Are you a creative individual looking to try out something new? Why not try pyrography and make some beautiful art with wood. At the Collaborators Cabin, you can choose to take part in a session of up to three hours where you will learn about the pyrography art form and then get crafty trying your hand at it.

The word pyrography comes from the Greek words “pur” and “graphos“, literally meaning ‘writing with fire. Also known as wood-burning, it is the fine art of decorating wood, leather, and other suitable materials with artistic design by the way of heated implements.

Where can I learn to do pyrography art in the Dorset area?

Collaborators Cabin has unique pyrography classes run by Rob Hughs and is the perfect place to learn this unique art style!

Spend the first half an hour of your session finding out about pyrography, meeting other people, sharing ideas and connecting with your inner artist. You will have time to think about your design. If you are not certain what to do, workshop leader Rob can provide some inspirational materials and advice.

Then once you’re ready you will pick an item to work on. There is a range of boxes, bookmarks, coasters, fridge magnets, keyrings and more so you will not be short on choice. Before you start, you will be shown how the machines work and taught some techniques. Then there are some demonstration pieces you can practice on before drawing and burning your own design. At the end of the class, you will have learned a new art form and get to take home your creation.
