Spa Valley Railway in Kent

Looking for an experience with a destination? Take a journey into the past on one of the Spa Valley Railway’s wonderfully restored trains. This heritage train service runs a huge variety of different events and package deals on their historic trains – from afternoon teas to gin tasting, to fish and chip suppers! Their trains range from diesel locomotives to steam engine trains and they pride themselves in maintaining these beautiful machines. Every stop has plenty to do and see, with historic sites such as the Chalbeayte Spring at Tunbridge Wells and the award-winning gardens at Groombridge Place and the enchanted forest. With excellent catering onboard and so many different deals to choose from, a trip with Spa Valley Railway is a great way to spend the day.

Run entirely by volunteers, the original members of the Tunbridge Wells and Eridge Railway Preservation Society (or TWERPS – an unfortunate acronym that earned them quite a bit of teasing) have fought to restore this historic line since its closure in the 1990s. You can learn all about their battle to open the railway back up again on their website, and enjoy your experience all the more for knowing just how far they’ve come! The Spa Valley railway line runs through a beautiful part of Kent, boasting gorgeous views you won’t soon forget.
