The Aotea Utanganui Museum can be reached by following the State Highway 3 through the town of Patea. It is situated at 127 Egmont Street opposite the Patea Library Plus.

Aotea Utanganui is a purpose-built museum that helps to capture the spirit and energy of the South Taranaki region. The museum takes on an active role within the local community both present and future. This is a museum that is welcoming to all visitors and inspirational when aiming towards excellence in preservation, curatorship, research and education!

Visitors are able to witness the magic behind the scenes at the museum, where items are catalogued and stored for safe access when curating new exhibitions. The museum team provide back-of-house tours through the archives and social history storeroom. These tours are available through appointment only.
