Do you love castles and history? Then come and visit Kilchurn Castle. This facility was one of the most historically important sites in the country. Being the oldest surviving military barracks on the British mainland. Although, the castle was a fantastic residence before this. Built around the 1400s and converted into a garrison after the Jacobite rebellion in 1689. Although, it was abandoned in the late 1700s.
The castle is situated on a hill looking over Loch Awe and belongs to the Campbells of Glenorchy. Come down and see why this is one of the most photographic castles in Scotland. The castle is open to visitors from the 1st of April to the 30th of September, From 9.30 am to 5.30 pm and entry is currently free.
