Set against the stunning backdrop of Ben Bhraggie and overlooking the North Sea, the spires and turrets of Dunrobin are like something from a fairytale. Dating back to 1235 the stronghold of the earls and later dukes of Sutherland has stood on this exact site and although the castle’s current exterior is Victorian, the original structure dates all the way back to 1401 with parts of the original stronghold still surviving within the castle walls.
As you step inside the castle you’ll be able to see the centuries of history unfold through the very structure of the building itself as well as its rich and intricate history laid out for you in the self-guided tour. Their tickets include entry to the castle, museum, grounds, and falconry display. Their tea room offers a great selection of delicious homemade food, including a hot lunch, cakes, and local ice cream.
