Te Puia Geothermal Attractions and Maori Culture and Arts

Te Puia is located in the historic Te Whakarewarewa Valley and is brilliant focus point to learn about Maori Culture, geothermal phenomenon, kiwis (the bird) and Maori art!  Being the home to the New Zealand Arts and Crafts Institute and Āhua Gallery, it is the perfect place to learn about and see some brilliant Maori art! They also do performances of the legendary Haka which is a brilliant thing to see and learn about when visiting New Zealand.

Highly recommended is the guided tour where you can be taken around the entire site by extremely knowledgeable and helpful guides with stories about the area! The site also includes a geothermal valley with world famous geysers and a Kiwi Conservation Centre. If you’re hungry during your visit they also have the brilliant restaurant Pātaka Kaito who have a brilliant a la carte menu to get stuck into.
