Whisky Tours at Oban Distillery

For whisky lovers, you definitely need to make the trip to the Oban Distillery! In the town where the highlands meet the islands, the whisky’s tame character is perfectly represented by its location within the quaint town of Oban. Sitting inside the foot of the same cliff that overlooks the town, the Oban distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, but it is also one of the smallest!

Where can I find Oban Distillery?

The distillery is located in the town of Oban, along the A85. The town has regular bus, ferry, and train links. With train station being 5 minutes walk from the distillery.

Oban distillery was established in 1794 by John and Hugh Stevenson, meaning that it actually pre-dates the town of Oban. Visitors can witness the original buildings from their 1890 refurbishment, and the distillery’s small size poses a unique experience for visitors to the tour, providing the chance to witness the original craftsmanship of whisky in Scotland!

The tour takes visitors on a fantastic journey, sharing their fascinating story and showing you around the building, including the production room, the old filling store, the mill room, and the dram room where you will be provided with a complimentary taste of their iconic 14-year-old west highland malt. So take a trip down and enjoy the scenic views and coastal air, all while taking a tour and a taste of the town’s famous old distillery and whisky!
