Where can I find the Wondrous Woods?

Follow the event signage on the A904. The entry to Wondrous Woods is between Newton village and the Queensferry Crossing roundabout.

Located in the famously beautiful Hopetoun House estate is a woodland walk like you’ve never seen! Embark on a magically light journey through the winding circular trail of the Wondrous Woods. Starting your journey at the iron gates, follow the track to the radiant rear gardens of Hopetoun House and then on through the woodlands past the site of Abercorn Castle, where you’ll finish back at the House with all the memories of your mystical walk! The grounds are beautifully lit up to create an unbelievable stroll that you’ll never forget.

We have various characters from a Medieval Archer, a Red Coat Soldier and a Renaissance Musician to a Pictish Storyteller, to name but a few. Midhope Castle / Lallybroch

Located on the Hopetoun Estate is Midhope Castle which is the location for fictional Lallybroch, the family home of character Jamie Fraser. Midhope Castle dates back to the 15th Century and although the exterior is relatively intact and therefore affords a photo opportunity, the castle is derelict and not accessible on the inside. Please note, for the last time slots of the day, last entry is 15 minutes before close. Important Information Please note, Midhope will be used as a location for periods of filming from May 2022. There is uncertainty surrounding the exact dates and schedules, and as such Hopetoun reserve the right, at short notice, to:- Close the site for filming. Cancel online bookings. The ticket price will be rebated. Restrict full access to the site. As much notice as possible will be given in advance of periods of closure or disruption. From Newton village (A904), drive past New Hopetoun Garden Centre and Hopetoun Farm Shop (right hand side), continue for 200m and you will see a sign for Hopetoun Sawmill and Midhope, Please turn right after this onto a minor road. Also look out for A9 Partnership at this junction. Continue along the minor road for approx. 1 mile and you will see a further sign for Midhope, Hopetoun Sawmill - turn left down the drive. Midhope is now straight ahead, please park in the designated car park area and show your ticket on arrival at the Kiosk.

10 Years of Hot Dub Time Machine

Festival cult favourite, Hot Dub Time Machine, will be returning to the Edinburgh Fringe this August to celebrate its 10th birthday. The ‘dance-through-the-decades’ audio-visual monster party will take place in Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre over 2 nights Aug 19+ 20 Since Hot Dub Time Machine first launched in 2012, the event has broken dance floors at sold-out shows all over the globe, along with festival slots at Coachella, Reading and Tomorrowland. DJ Tom Lowndes from Sydney Australia, plays songs in 'strict' chronological order, mixing and mashing visuals and audio live. Hot Dub Time Machine last brought ‘the best party ever’ to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 for two wild sold out shows which were enjoyed by over 12,500 music fans and this 10th year anniversary event will be even bigger! Celebrating the power of great music, Hot Dub Time Machine promises to serve a night of high energy and non-stop fun and Tom’s incredible selection of the very best tracks from the last 70 years are guaranteed to absolutely pack the dance-floor!
