If you are wanting to get away from the city and back to nature then  Caerlaverock is a brilliant place to visit as it has so many walks around the area, you can explore through the dramatic landscape of the unique mudflats, sandbank and flower-speckled saltmarsh. Throughout your walks, you will get a chance to encounter some of the wonderful wildlife that lives in these areas. The Caerlaverock is home to a wide variety of animals, if you are lucky you might get a chance to hear and spot the natterjack toads which are Scotland’s rarest amphibians, as well as see thousands of swans and different breeds of birds.
