Blacksmith Museum and Craft Shop in Strachur

Have you ever wanted to experience what it was like to be an 18th-century Blacksmith? Well then, the Strachur Smiddy and Craft Shop is the place for you! Step back in time and make your way inside an actual Blacksmith’s Forge/Smiddy, dating back to 1791. The facility is preserved to almost its actual state, as it would have been in its prime, loaded with the full amount of Blacksmith’s tools, Cobbled floor and Bellows and Anvil.

This unique museum is a fully working Blacksmith’s Smiddy, with an interactive tour guide who demonstrates the approach to forging metals, using different techniques and tools that date back hundreds of years. The facility also has a craft shop on site, which sells all different types of unique souvenirs, like horseshoes and fire pokers made exclusively by their resident blacksmith. The facility is open from the 26th of June to the 26th of September, from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. So what are you waiting for?
