What's special about The London Loom?

Founded by Francesca Kletz, who fell in love with weaving during a visit to see her sister in Japan, The London Loom was the first place in the UK to teach Japanese freestyle weaving from their studio in Hackney.

Their classes, taught by Francesca herself, focus on the community spirit and calming effects of Japanese freestyle weaving. Before she founded the London Loom there wasn’t anywhere to practice this sort of weaving in the UK. Since then Francesca has taught weaving workshops at the Tate Modern, Southbank Centre, and the Royal Society of Sculptors. Why not stop for dinner after your workshop at one of the restaurants nearby or stretch your legs and take a walk through Hackney Downs park? With links to the city centre from the Hackney Downs Overground Station and tube, you can also hop on a train and go sightseeing.
