The Barrowlands Weekend Market in Glasgow
For lovers of history and bargains! One of the most fascinating things to do on your trip to Glasgow is attending the Barrowlands Weekend Market, more commonly referred to as the Barras. This area is also home to the famous Barrowlands Ballroom, where some of the world’s most famous acts have visited. Where is the Barrowlands Ballroom?
The "Barras" is located in the East end of Glasgow. Not far from the Trongate area of the city, the Trongate Tower is located a few minutes walks from the markets.
The Barrowlands have been an important trading place for the east end of Glasgow since the early 1900s, with many families earning a living from their stalls. Of course, this all really took shape in the 1960s with the building of the ballroom. The Barras is now filled with quirky shops, bars and restaurants, where visitors can spend some time before and after their search through this famous market. So what are you waiting for?
